we were in the basement watching simple life on mute
cause your daddy doesn’t like what it does to you
pretty sure he felt that way about me too
i guess that I was different but you were something too

i was there when you were building all your shrines
in your childhood bedroom where we’d spend most of our time
a focus in your eyes I couldn’t comprehend
you were already gone even way back then

i was at the party when the power went out
sworn that I had seen you though it was dark I couldn’t tell
it was just somebody else i wished that you could be
